Union to Union
Through this collaboration, Saco's member unions engage in international aid and development projects, aiming to strengthen trade unions in developing countries. These projects are funded by Sida and Saco’s own resources.
Recently, Union to Union began supporting trade union development in Ukraine and Belarus.
In Belarus, independent trade unions are banned. Many union leaders are imprisoned, and their families face persecution and reprisals. Several Saco-affiliated unions support exiled Belarusian trade unionists.
In Ukraine, strong trade union structures are essential for meeting the EU's democratic accession criteria. This is especially critical as companies begin investing in Ukraine’s reconstruction. Building a free and democratic Ukraine requires a functioning labor market with decent working conditions and social protections. We contribute to this through support for trade unions and social dialogue.
Union to Union also publishes the annual Global Rights Index, a global survey conducted by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) on trade union rights enforcement.
