Engineers of Sweden Lund
The union works to safeguard union and professional interests, both locally at the universities and centrally vis-à-vis ministries and authorities. We believe that working conditions and wage formation are areas that must work for education and for continued growth in science and technology research.

Local work at Lund University
Every year, the local union, through the SACO-S Council's board, participates in a number of negotiations and meetings at the university. A large part of these are in some form about changes in Lund University's activities, which affects us all. In order for the union to be able to participate and influence so that the university moves in the "right direction", it must get the members' opinions.
A growing problem today is that fewer and fewer people are involved in local union work. Many people do not consider themselves to have time or believe that their vote is worth nothing. In the long run, this is a dangerous development as the quality of the union's work is largely dependent on the members' input.
A first step in being involved and influencing is to get involved in the local trade union association's board. This means meeting for about 1.5 hours 3-5 times / year to discuss current issues and get information about what is happening at the university. You do not need to have worked as a union before or even have any major knowledge of union work or the university's activities in general to be on the board and contribute! You do not need to hold a certain position at the university, but all members, from doctoral students to professors, are welcome.
