Workplace representative

The workplace representative’s knowledge about their own department/unit and the employees’ situation, is valuable information for looking after the interests of Saco-S members (read more about Saco-S). Their direct contact with the Saco-S members facilitates contact and the spread of information between Saco-S members and the Saco-S council at UMU. The workplace representative is therefore an important factor allowing Saco-S to provide the best possible service to members.

The workplace representative is the official representative for the members as well as for the Saco-S council. As such, the workplace representative represents Saco-S in the Cooperation meetings with the department’s/unit’s leadership (according to the Local Collective Agreement on Cooperation for Development at Umeå University). This guarantees that an employee/union perspective is put forward and included in discussion at the Cooperation meetings before decisions at the department/unit are taken.
