Safety officer

As a safety officer, you represent your colleagues in work environment matters and work to ensure that Scania fulfills its responsibilities according to the work environment legislation. Through the assignment as safety representative, you get opportunities to be involved and influence the work environment at Scania.

The focus of all work environment work should be on preventive and systematic work. It is clear from the work environment legislation. It is also with such an approach and way of working that we can develop a good working environment together. Safety officers have a very important role in this work.

Traditionally, the safety officer's work has dealt a lot with physical risks in the work environment. For academics, it is instead the psychosocial and organizational factors that cause the greatest problems and create the most illness. Therefore, AF works with a strong focus on the psychosocial work environment.

In order for the safety officers to be able to carry out their mission, they have been given a range of powers and rights in the Work Environment Act, including:

  • Right to education
  • Right of leave
  • Right to retain current terms and conditions of employment
  • The right to take part in the documents and receive the necessary information
  • The right to participate in security patrols and be part of the security committee
  • The right to request work environment measures or a work environment investigation
  • The right to interrupt certain work, so-called "protection agent stop"
  • Right of access to "foreign" workplaces
  • Right to compensation in certain cases
  • Protection according to the Trustees Act
